1952. Twenty-three year old New Yorker Marty Mauser places one hundred ten percent into everything he does, unfortunately for the world they are all in pursuit of his own self-absorbed wants in he taking advantage of everyone in his orbit. To show the world he's the best, he not only has to make it to the world championships which he cannot afford to attend, but win. Among those he hopes will be able to help him in a less than chance meeting are 1930s retired movie star Kay Stone and her powerful businessman husband Milton Rockwell.
